Remarks:
The admission process was simple; you get your seat alloted by JoSAA or CSAB counselling according to the choice filled, then you come for physical verification which is itself conducted in the institute itself. That's all, no GD/PI. Since I am born and brought up in West Bengal, IIEST, Shibpur was always in one of my choices for admission. IIEST, Shibpur is a well reputed engineering college which has been crafting great engineers since 1856, everyone in Bengal knows about this college.

The admission is through JEE mains. Generally cutoff life between 96 to 97% ile. You need to control for Jossa counselling and further CSAB counselling if you don't get any branch. For me choosing this college was because of the factors as - affordability, closeness to my hometown and and my personal preference of choosing electrical engineering.

At the time of my joining which was the year 2020 the college was one of the top 25 engineering colleges in India (according to NIRF). But the dean was a money grubber. We've got a new dean in 2024. I hope things will get better It was during the COVID lockdown period. The entirety of the admission process was done online. There was no GD/PI. Candidates were allotted through JOSAA counseling and accepted solely based on the JEE MAIN cutoff.
