GRE Exam Format

The GRE General Exam is available in both computer-based and paper-based formats. Despite many similarities, the GRE exam pattern for both versions is different. Furthermore, the paper-based test is not available to everyone. It is available in areas where the computer-delivered syllabus of GRE is not available. As a result, you cannot simply choose a paper-based test over a computer-based test. It is determined by where you take the exam. The GRE syllabus for the General test is as follows:

Computer-based GRE Exam Pattern

Each of these GRE sections is further divided into two subsections. For the computer-based GRE paper pattern, GRE question paper pattern made the total of forty questions (Verbal Reasoning and Quantitative Reasoning). Analytical Writing has only one section, which consists of two one-hour tasks. Aside from these main sections, the computer-based pattern exam includes two other variable sections. After the Quantitative Reasoning section is completed, there is a ten-minute break. The un scored and research sections, on the other hand, are not included in the final GRE scoring pattern.

Paper-based GRE Exam Pattern

The GRE general test has three main components: GRE verbal reasoning, GRE quantitative reasoning, and GRE analytical writing assessment. GRE scores are one of the most important admission criteria for higher education in business, engineering, and many other fields. The general test GRE score range is accepted here. The GRE general test syllabus is extensive, and it assesses candidates' analytical abilities. The GRE general test is given throughout the year in locations where GRE computer-delivered tests are available. It is held twice a year in GRE test centers where only the GRE paper-based exam is administered.

GRE Verbal Reasoning

GMAT Verbal Reasoning Questions are based on reading comprehension, GRE text completion, and sentence equivalence. GRE verbal syllabus aims to examine a candidate’s vocabulary and verbal skills. Candidates get 41 minutes to answer this section.

GRE Reading Comprehension

GMAT Reading Comprehension comprises 5-7 questions. Here is the question format given in the below table:

In text completion, candidates will have to answer 12 questions in total with 6 GRE text completion questions in each section.

GRE Sentence Equivalence

GRE Text Completion a GRE sentence equivalence has a similar question structure. Candidates' ability to solve a question based on partial information is assessed in sentence equivalence GRE questions. The structure of the questions in sentence equivalence can be identified with three main elements:

• A single sentence
• A blank space
• Six answer choices

GRE Quantitative Reasoning

The total number of questions in the entire quantitative reasoning is 27, and the time duration given will be 47 minutes. GRE quant comprises two subsections and contains total 27 questions based on arithmetic, algebra, geometry and data analysis.

GRE Analytical Writing

GRE Analytical Writing measure assesses candidates' critical thinking and analytical writing. GRE Analytical Writing measure is made up of one timed analytical writing tasks: The Analyze an Issue task.

• GRE Analyse an Issue: GRE analyse an issue assesses how well one can express it through writing. Candidates need to complete the task within 30 minutes.

GRE Subject Test Pattern

GRE subject test is a paper-based exam, conducted thrice a year. GRE subject tests are taken by candidates who want a higher degree in any specific subject. The updated GRE subject test pattern only includes three subjects; physics, Psychology, and Mathematics.
