DTU Admission Dates 2027

The next DTU B.Tech admission cycle for 2027-28 is expected to start with JEE Main in early 2027. JAC Delhi counselling is likely to begin from May 2027. MBA and M.Tech admissions for the next cycle are expected between April and June 2027.

DTU Courses and Fees

DTU offers UG, PG, and doctoral programmes in engineering, management, sciences, design, and economics. B.Tech has the largest intake, with 2,514 seats across 14 specialisations. Total programme fees range from INR 2.58 Lakhs for M.Tech to INR 11.10 Lakhs for B.Tech.

B.Tech specialisations at DTU include Computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology, Software Engineering, AI and Machine Learning, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mathematics and Computing, Environmental Engineering, Production and Industrial Engineering, Engineering Physics, Biotechnology, and Chemical Engineering. CSE, IT, and Software Engineering regularly see the strongest placement demand and higher average packages.

DTU Admission Process

DTU admits B.Tech students through JEE Main scores and JAC Delhi counselling. This counselling is different from JoSAA. DTU, NSUT, IGDTUW, and IIIT Delhi are part of JAC Delhi, not JoSAA. Nearly 85% of B.Tech seats, or about 2,137 seats out of 2,514, are kept for students who passed Class 12 from a school in Delhi NCT.

B.Tech Admission

• Eligibility: Students must pass 10+2 or an equivalent exam with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. DTU does not state a separate minimum percentage beyond the JEE Main qualification rules.
• Selection stages: Admission includes JEE Main score and rank, JAC Delhi online registration and choice filling, four allotment rounds, Spot Round for vacant seats, document verification, and fee payment at the reporting centre.
• Domicile rule: Delhi quota depends on where the student studied Class 12. It is not based on the residential address.

For JAC Delhi 2026 General Category, CSE closing rank was 9,170 for Delhi quota and 3,430 for outside-Delhi quota. IT and Software Engineering usually close between 10,000 and 25,000 for Delhi quota students. ECE closes between 25,000 and 45,000. Mechanical, Civil, and Environmental Engineering close above 50,000 for Delhi quota.

M.Tech Admission

• Eligibility: Applicants need a B.Tech or equivalent degree with at least 60% aggregate. GATE is compulsory for the regular merit-based route.
• GATE stipend: GATE-qualified candidates receive INR 12,400 per month from AICTE during the 2-year programme.
• 25 specialisations available across CSE, ECE, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Biotechnology, Mathematics, Applied Physics, and other departments.

MBA Admission

• Eligibility: Candidates need a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognised university. The minimum required marks are 50% for General category and 45% for reserved categories.
• Entrance exam: CAT scores are used first for selection. MAT and CMAT scores are considered only after all eligible CAT candidates are allotted seats.
• CAT cutoff: For General category, DSM DTU usually closes near 85 percentile, based on earlier admission cycles.
• Admissions are handled by the CMAC consortium for DSM, USME, and one more participating institute. The combined intake is 270 seats.

PhD Admission

DTU offers PhD admission in January and July sessions. Applicants have to apply online, take a written test, and appear for a departmental interview. The minimum eligibility is M.Tech or MBA with 60% marks. Research options cover engineering, management, sciences, and design.

DTU Placements

In the 2024-25 placement season, DTU recorded a highest domestic package of INR 85 LPA. The highest international package was INR 1.80 CPA, offered by Palantir, London. The overall B.Tech average CTC was INR 15.75 LPA, and the median CTC was INR 12.42 LPA. More than 350 companies visited the campus, and 1,486 students got offers.

CSE and Software Engineering have the strongest placement outcomes at DTU. DSM DTU MBA placements recorded an average package of INR 7.74 LPA from 53 offers, while USME recorded an average of INR 7.55 LPA. Recruiters come from technology, consulting, finance, and core engineering. Regular technology recruiters include Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Adobe, Samsung, Flipkart, Salesforce, Razorpay, and Zomato. Consulting and finance recruiters include Deloitte, EY, Boston Consulting Group, McKinsey and Company, Goldman Sachs, and JP Morgan. Tata Motors, L and T, Maruti Suzuki, and Siemens hire for Mechanical, Civil, and Electrical branches.

DTU Rankings

DTU appears in several NIRF 2025 categories. It is ranked 30th in Engineering with a score of 60.85, 42nd in the University category with a score of 54.88, and 13th among State Public Universities with a score of 63.50. Its State Public University rank moved up from 16th in 2024 to 13th in 2025.

DTU has NAAC A+ accreditation with a score of 3.4 and NBA accreditation for its engineering programmes. Under UGC norms, it is also recognised as a Category I institution, which gives it higher academic and research autonomy.

DTU Campus and Infrastructure

DTU’s main campus is on Bawana Road, Rohini, in north-west Delhi. The campus covers 164 acres and has nearly 1,56,000 square metres of built-up area. It includes 15 academic departments, research centres, administrative blocks, and residential facilities.

The university has 13 hostels, with 10 for boys and 3 for girls. Together, they can accommodate nearly 2,600 students. Each hostel has a common room, gymnasium, and laundry facility. Annual hostel fees are INR 52,000 to INR 72,000, excluding mess charges.

DTU’s academic facilities include specialised laboratories in all 15 departments, a central library, computing centres, a sports complex, and research facilities. Student activity is supported by technical and cultural chapters. Techfest and Engifest are among the major annual student events. The Rohini location, near Delhi’s Pitampuram industrial corridor and the wider NCR corporate network, supports internships and placements.

DTU Scholarships

DTU supports students through tuition waivers and national scholarship schemes. Students from families with annual income below INR 4.5 Lakhs can get a 25% to 100% tuition fee waiver. Those from families earning below INR 1 Lakh per year receive 100% tuition remission.

DTU vs NSUT vs IIIT Delhi

Students looking at government engineering colleges in Delhi often compare DTU with NSUT (Netaji Subhas University of Technology) and IIIT Delhi. All three institutes use JAC Delhi for admission. This comparison matters most for students with JEE Main ranks between 2,000 and 30,000 for Delhi quota seats in CSE and related branches.

DTU has the largest campus, a wide alumni network, and more engineering branch options. IIIT Delhi has higher CSE and overall placement averages because its intake is smaller and technology-focused. NSUT stands between DTU and IIIT Delhi on most measures. All three attract many of the same technology and consulting recruiters. For Delhi quota candidates with JEE Main ranks above 10,000, DTU and NSUT usually provide more programme choices at similar fee levels.
