What Is MAT?

The Management Aptitude Test is conducted by the All India Management Association (AIMA) for MBA and allied management-programme admission. AIMA has conducted MAT since 1988. The test is normally held in February, May, September and December.

Graduates from different disciplines can use MAT to apply to participating management institutes. The exam produces a score; each college decides its own admission criteria and final selection.

MAT December 2026 Dates

AIMA schedules the December score release by the first week of January 2027. PBT and CBT are both centre-based; home-based IBT is not an option in this session.

MAT Eligibility and Application Fee

Register at mat.aima.in using an email address and mobile number. The photo must be JPG/JPEG, 10-50 KB; the signature must be JPG/JPEG, 5-20 KB. Select the test mode and institutes, pay the fee, complete the personal and qualification details, then submit the form.

The MAT admit card is downloaded from the dashboard for each booked mode. It gives your assigned test time and venue.

MAT Exam Pattern and Syllabus

The test lasts 120 minutes, with a 0.25-mark penalty for an incorrect answer. Language and reasoning assess reading and logical judgement; Mathematics and Data Analysis use quantitative skills; Economic & Business Environment covers economic concepts and business developments.

AIMA's current score interpretation counts all five sections equally. The business section should therefore remain part of preparation alongside the four aptitude sections.

How to Prepare for the December MAT

Start with a 150-question, 120-minute mock to establish section-wise attempts and errors. Then separate a concept gap from a misread condition or calculation mistake. A low Data Analysis score caused by wrong denominators calls for a different exercise from one caused by unfinished sets.

For Language Comprehension, review the exact sentence supporting each answer. For reasoning, write constraints before testing the choices. For business questions, attach dates to reports and policy developments so an old answer is not mistaken for a current fact. The MAT 2026 paper collection can supply longer practice sets.

MAT Result and Score Validity

AIMA normalizes raw performance across sessions before scaling it. A mock percentage cannot be read as a MAT percentile. The scorecard's percentile-below figure describes the share of the testing population that scored below you.

Apply separately to your chosen management institutes. The registration includes score reporting to five institutes for one mode or seven for both modes; extra choices cost INR 118 each including GST. Colleges set their own degree percentage, accepted sessions, interview process and admission deadline.
