Jadavpur University handles admission 2026 through separate routes for each programme, with BE seats going through WBJEEB counselling and ME/MTech using GATE-based selection. BA and BSc Honours admission is mainly based on Class 12 marks through the university's online portal. BE admission at Jadavpur University depends only on WBJEE 2026 rank. The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board conducts the exam and manages the centralized counselling at wbjeeb.nic.in. Jadavpur University ME/MTech Selection Criteria 2026
For the GATE category, JU considers the GATE score along with performance in the university admission test. A few programmes do not require the JU test.
- The JU admission test is offline, MCQ-based, and has a duration of 45 minutes.
- Energy Science and Technology, Biomedical Engineering, and Computer Science do not have a JU admission test. These programmes use GATE score only.
- Sponsored category applicants are selected without GATE. Relevant industry experience gets extra weight in selection.
- GATE category semester tuition is INR 2,400. Sponsored category tuition is INR 24,000 per semester. All students also pay INR 360 as admission-related fees.
- GATE category scholars at JU can apply for the AICTE-GATE scholarship, with stipend up to INR 12,400 per month, directly through AICTE.
Each JU ME/MTech application can include up to 8 programme choices. The total fee is INR 1,500 for 5 or more choices. Sponsored category applicants can select only 1 choice per application. For ME Computer Science, JU does not conduct an admission test, so selection is based only on GATE score.

The placement of our college is very good along with the fests and the student and alumni support that made me choose this college.Some bad aspects of our college is the politics and student Unions in the college.To get into Jadavpur University in Engineering stream one need to give the WBJEE Exam with exam centres in West Bengal and Tripura.The cut off rank for the last branch I.e printing engineering is almost 3k.If one prepares physics chemistry and maths from ncert ,you can make into Jadavpur University,also JEE Mains preparation helps a lot.

This university has a great brand value and one of the best Chemistry department all over India. You can ask almost anyone and they would proceed you to refer to this college . I was admitted in the year 2021. In that year, there was no admission test. Everyone was selected on the basis of their Secondary and Higher Secondary examination result. From later on, Administration opted for admission test. This is held every year at about July or august. The exam is held in the University campus. And all the students are asked to attend the counselling round otherwise they wouldn't be eligible for the upcoming lists.

The admission to my course , goes past an entrance exam conducted by the University itself a 100 MCQ question is prepared each question carrying 2 marks . One needs to prepare the entire 11 and 12 th physics course syllabus for its preparation. One good side about our university is highly talented students all around , great smart enviornment . I chose the college because it is situated in my hometown, In addition, the institution has great brand value, a strong alumni base, and a beautiful campus. By the way, it should be known to the students that JU has 2 functional campuses, 1st in Jadavpur, 2nd in Salt Lake. Jadavpur University is the topmost college that can be obtained by WBJEE which has as fierce a competition as JEE na dother competitive Engineering exams. Jadavpur University itself is a brand and on par with many new IITs, this college provides worldwide exposure with minimal charges. The last branch i.e. BE Printing closed at around 3k WBJEE rank. The syllabus is similar to that of JEE Advanced and Physics and chemistry are tougher than JEE Mains while maths is on par with JEE Mains.
