IIEST Shibpur Courses and Fees

Students can pursue undergraduate engineering and architecture, integrated science degrees, postgraduate study and doctoral research at IIEST Shibpur. Government support keeps its fee structure in line with other Institutes of National Importance. The five-year science degrees cost between INR 1,63,500 and INR 1,69,500, depending on the subject.

The B.Tech choices are Computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mining Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, and Mathematics and Computing.

M.Tech students who qualify through GATE receive INR 12,400 per month under the Ministry of Education's MHRD fellowship scheme. This scholarship covers the 2-year programme.

IIEST Shibpur Admission Process

As an Institute of National Importance, IIEST Shibpur participates in counselling conducted by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). B.Tech and B.Arch seats are assigned through this process using JEE Main ranks. West Bengal applicants fall under the Home State category, while applicants from elsewhere use the Other State category. Each category has a separate seat matrix, which lists the available seats.

B.Tech Eligibility and Admission Steps

Applicants need to meet the academic conditions and obtain a valid JEE Main rank. There is no separate entrance examination conducted by the institute.

1. Pass Class 12, or 10+2, from a recognised board with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
2. Meet JoSAA's minimum aggregate requirement, typically 75% for General applicants and 65% for SC/ST applicants.
3. Secure a valid JEE Main rank and participate in JoSAA counselling.
4. Obtain a seat through rank-based allocation under the applicable Home State or Other State seat matrix.

Applicants from West Bengal benefit from access to seats reserved under the Home State quota.

B.Arch Admission

For B.Arch, applicants need a valid JEE Main Paper 2 (B.Arch) or NATA score and a 10+2 qualification with PCM or PCB. PCM means Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics; PCB means Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Seat allocation takes place on the JoSAA portal used for B.Tech counselling. The programme's 4th national rank in NIRF 2025 places it among the country's leading architecture options.

M.Tech and M.Arch Admission

A relevant GATE score and a B.Tech or BE degree are needed for M.Tech admission. Seats are assigned through CCMT, the Centralised Counselling for M.Tech, or COAP. GATE-qualified students receive the MHRD scholarship of INR 12,400 monthly throughout the 2-year course. For M.Arch, the entrance routes are GATE Architecture, also called the AR paper, or CEED.

IIEST Shibpur Placements
