What's New in CBSE Class 12?
CBSE Class 12 registration for the 2027 board exams is open with a late fee until October 30, 2026. Regular students are registered by their schools through the List of Candidates (LOC). Private candidates fill out their own online form.
The normal-fee deadline has passed for both groups. Schools submitted the LOC without a late fee until October 21, while private candidates could apply without a late fee until October 23. The correction window for school-submitted LOC details will remain open from November 2 to 4, 2026.
- Regular students do not apply separately. Their school submits the LOC.
- Private candidates apply online through the CBSE private-candidate portal.
- The late fee is INR 2,000 in addition to the examination fee.
- Only candidates whose details are submitted and whose fee is paid can appear for the 2027 board exams.
CBSE Class 12 Registration 2027 Dates
The registration dates are different for regular and private candidates. Schools began submitting the LOC on September 24. Private-candidate forms opened on October 8. Both late-fee windows close on October 30.

CBSE Class 12 Registration Fee 2027
The fee is calculated differently for regular and private candidates. A regular student in India pays INR 1,600 for five subjects through the school. A private candidate in India pays INR 320 per subject. Practical fees are charged separately where applicable.

Visually impaired regular students are exempt from the examination fee. Schools may collect only the amount allowed under CBSE rules and must provide a receipt.
CBSE Class 12 Registration for Regular Students
A regular student does not fill out an individual board-exam form on the CBSE website. The school enters the student's details and subjects in the LOC system, collects the fee and submits the final list. A student's name must be included in the LOC to appear for the board exam.
For the 2027 Class 12 exams, regular students must have passed Class 10 from a recognised board in or before the 2024-25 academic year. The school must also check attendance, subject combination and other examination rules before adding a name.
Details Submitted in the LOC
The LOC carries the student's name, parents' or guardian's names, date of birth, gender, category, subject codes and photograph. The same information is used for the admit card and result documents, so spelling and subject codes must match the school record.

APAAR ID can be entered where available, but it is optional for this LOC cycle. The school is responsible for the final online submission.
CBSE Class 12 Private Candidate Form 2027
Private candidates apply online on the CBSE private-candidate page. The 2027 exams will be held with the regular board exams in February, March and April 2027. CBSE will issue a fresh roll number after accepting the form.
Who Can Apply as a Private Candidate?
The current notice accepts candidates placed in Essential Repeat or Compartment in 2026, candidates who failed or received Essential Repeat between 2021 and 2026, and candidates who passed in 2026 but want to improve their marks in the same subjects. A candidate who could not appear in 2026 for medical reasons may also apply under the applicable full-subject category. This does not include absence caused by a shortage of attendance.
A candidate with Compartment in one subject can choose to appear in all subjects, but the form must then be filled under the Essential Repeat category. The current Class 12 notice does not list a separate additional-subject category.
How to Fill the CBSE Class 12 Private Form
- Open the private-candidate page and select the Class 12 application.
- Register with a working email address and complete OTP verification.
- Select the correct category and enter the previous roll number and examination year.
- Choose the subjects and exam city, then upload the photograph and signature.
- Check all details and pay the fee online.
- Download the confirmation page for your record. No hard copy has to be sent to CBSE.
Candidates who appeared in 2026 will see many details filled automatically. Those who appeared in 2025 or earlier must enter their previous examination details. Only one application form is allowed. Payment must be completed; a saved form without the fee will be rejected.
Documents and Details Required for CBSE Class 12 Registration
Regular students provide their details to the school. Private candidates need their previous CBSE roll number and examination year, a working email address, a recent colour photograph and a signature image. The photograph and signature must be in JPG format and each file must not exceed 40 KB.

The name, parents' names and date of birth should match the earlier CBSE record. A private candidate also chooses the exam city, but the final centre allotted by CBSE cannot be changed.
CBSE Class 12 Registration Form Correction
Schools can check and correct Class 12 LOC data from November 2 to 4, 2026. After November 4, CBSE will not accept changes to the submitted LOC. Students should check their name, date of birth, parents' names, subjects, category and photograph with the school before this window closes.
Private candidates can edit the application and download a corrected form before final submission and fee payment within the application period. The exam city cannot be changed after CBSE allots the examination centre.
CBSE Class 12 Registration 2027: Things to Remember
- Regular students should confirm that the school has included their name and correct subjects in the LOC.
- Private candidates should select the category that matches their earlier result.
- A submitted form is incomplete until the online fee is paid.
- The confirmation page should be saved, but it does not by itself prove eligibility. CBSE checks the application details.
- The admit card will be available online later. Private candidates do not send a printed form to CBSE.
