CBSE Class 12 students appearing for the 2027 board exam should use the 2026-27 NCERT and CBSE books named for their subjects. Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics have separate Part I and Part II textbooks. English Core uses Flamingo and Vistas, while each Commerce and Humanities subject has its own book set.

The books can be read or downloaded from the NCERT textbook portal. Some subjects, including Physical Education and Entrepreneurship, use CBSE textbooks or support material. The subject-wise list below matches the current CBSE 2026-27 curriculum.

CBSE Class 12 Books List 2027

The table gives the main Class 12 textbooks for commonly chosen subjects. A student needs books only for the subjects in the school registration and board examination form. Lab manuals, exemplars and subject support books are shown separately where they form part of the current course.

CBSE Class 12 Science Books

Physics and Chemistry are divided into two textbook parts because the course covers several large units. The practical course uses a separate laboratory manual. Biology has one Class XII textbook, while Mathematics has two parts, an exemplar book and a lab manual.

Physics, Chemistry and Biology Books

The theory books cover the chapters used in the 70-mark Physics, Chemistry and Biology papers. Their practical manuals are used for experiments, records, activities and viva preparation. The manual is not a replacement for the theory book.

Mathematics Books

Mathematics Part I and Part II contain the 13 chapters used in the current course. The NCERT Exemplar provides additional problems, while the lab manual covers the activities used in internal assessment. The Class 12 Mathematics syllabus should be checked before using an older book edition.

CBSE Class 12 Commerce Books

The main Commerce book set covers Accountancy, Business Studies and Economics. Accountancy I deals mainly with partnership accounts. Accountancy II covers company accounts and financial statement analysis. Students taking Computerised Accounting use the separate computerised accounting book for that option.

Business Studies is divided across the management and business finance/marketing parts of the Class XII course. Economics uses Introductory Macroeconomics and Indian Economic Development. Introductory Microeconomics belongs to the Class XI course and should not replace the Class XII Indian Economic Development book.

CBSE Class 12 Humanities Books

History has three parts of Themes in Indian History. Geography uses two theory books and Practical Work in Geography Part II. Political Science, Sociology and Home Science each use two main books. Psychology uses one Class XII textbook.

CBSE Class 12 English and Hindi Books

English Core Books

Flamingo is the main English Core reader and contains prose and poetry. Vistas is the supplementary reader. English Elective uses a different book set, so students should not use the English Core list for the elective paper.

Hindi Core Books

Hindi Core uses Aroh Part 2, Vitan Part 2 and Abhivyakti aur Madhyam. Hindi Elective uses a different set, including Antra and Antral. The paper code and subject name on the school registration record decide which set applies.

Books for Other Class 12 Subjects

Computer Science uses the NCERT Class XII textbook with the current practical list and support material. Physical Education uses the CBSE Class XII textbook. Entrepreneurship uses the CBSE Class XII book because its project instructions form part of the course. Legal Studies also follows the revised Class XII textbook named in the current curriculum.

1. Open the official NCERT textbook page.
2. Select Class XII, the subject and the required book title.
3. Open a single chapter or use the complete-book download shown on the book page.

CBSE books and manuals that are not part of the standard NCERT catalogue are available through the CBSE books and support material page.

Latest NCERT Edition and Deleted Content

A book printed before the 2026-27 session may contain extra chapters or topics. This does not make the whole book unusable. Students can match its contents with the current Class 12 subject-wise syllabus and leave out portions that CBSE has excluded.

A commercial reference book is optional. It should follow the 2026-27 syllabus, use the current paper pattern and clearly separate board-level practice from entrance-exam questions. The NCERT or CBSE book remains the first source for definitions, diagrams, examples and prescribed literature.
