Section A had 16 one-mark questions. Sections B and C carried short answers, while Sections D and E carried case-based and long-answer questions. The five sections together added up to 70 marks.
| Section | Question numbers | Question type | Total marks |
|---|---|---|---|
| A | 1 to 16 | 16 MCQs x 1 mark | 16 |
| B | 17 to 21 | 5 very short answers x 2 marks | 10 |
| C | 22 to 28 | 7 short answers x 3 marks | 21 |
| D | 29 and 30 | 2 case studies x 4 marks | 8 |
| E | 31 to 33 | 3 long answers x 5 marks | 15 |
| Total | 1 to 33 | 33 questions | 70 |
Set 1, code 56/1/1, moved across Physical, Inorganic and Organic Chemistry instead of keeping one branch in a separate block.
Questions 1 to 12 covered reaction order, freezing point, transition metals, electrolysis, aspirin, coordination compounds, phenol, stereochemistry, aniline and vitamins. Questions 13 to 16 used assertion-reason statements on azeotropes, phenol, actinoids and glucose pentaacetate. The one-mark section therefore tested facts, reaction knowledge and short calculations.
Section B included Raoult's law, haloarenes, coordination-compound naming, amino acids and reaction order. Section C moved to longer work such as a first-order decomposition calculation, electrochemistry, boiling-point elevation with benzoic acid, glucose reactions and organic reaction mechanisms.
The two case-based questions focused on amines and coordination compounds. The long-answer section included organic identification and conversion, transition-metal chemistry and an electrochemical-cell calculation using emf and Gibbs energy. These five questions carried 23 marks in total.
The Chemistry syllabus gives the chapter list, while the Class 12 exam pattern covers the common board-paper rules.
The 2026-27 Chemistry sample paper keeps the same question-paper design and assessment pattern used in 2025-26. It has 33 questions for 70 marks in five sections. The Chemistry sample paper and marking scheme are available on the CBSE academic website.
The 2025 papers include the 56/1, 56/2, 56/4, 56/5, 56/6 and 56/7 series, along with code 56(B). Match the complete printed code before opening its solution.
