CBSE Class 12 Geography question papers for 2026, 2025, 2024 and 2023 are available below. The 2026 Geography exam was held on February 26, 2026. The paper had 30 questions for 70 marks and a writing time of three hours.
The 2026 paper included MCQs, source-based questions, short and long answers, data interpretation and map work. The older papers are arranged by their printed codes so that each question paper can be matched with the correct solution or marking scheme.
The 2026 papers are available in the Geography question-paper file. It contains 15 paper codes, covering the 64/1, 64/2, 64/3, 64/4 and 64/5 series. Each series has three booklets.
Paper 64/1/1 had 30 questions across five sections. There was no overall choice, though some questions included an internal choice. Students with visual impairment received text alternatives for questions that depended on a map, graph or picture.
The paper moved from one-mark MCQs to source-based, short-answer, long-answer and map questions. The section-wise marks are given below.
| Section | Question numbers | Question type | Marks |
|---|---|---|---|
| A | 1 to 17 | 17 MCQs of 1 mark each | 17 |
| B | 18 to 19 | 2 source-based questions of 3 marks each | 6 |
| C | 20 to 23 | 4 short answers of 3 marks each | 12 |
| D | 24 to 28 | 5 long answers of 5 marks each | 25 |
| E | 29 to 30 | 2 map questions of 5 marks each | 10 |
| Total | 1 to 30 | – | 70 |
The short answers in Section C were to be written in about 80 to 100 words. The long answers in Section D were to be written in about 120 to 150 words. Some questions had an internal choice, but students had to attempt all 30 question numbers.
The examples in this section are from paper code 64/1/1. They show how the paper combined textbook ideas with passages, data and maps.
Question 19 used a passage on industrial water pollution. It asked how industries pollute water, one way to reduce the problem and the names of two polluted rivers. The answer needed facts from the passage as well as a clear example.
Question 23 gave a table showing the share of male and female workers in primary, secondary and tertiary activities in 2011. Students had to compare the figures instead of writing a general note on employment.
Questions 24 to 28 covered industrial location, rail and road transport, land-use and farming problems, petroleum and iron ore, and the role of seaports in international trade. These questions usually carried five separate points of one mark each. A complete answer therefore needed enough distinct, relevant points.
Question 29 asked students to identify any five of seven features on a world map. They included a railway terminal, seaport, airport, canal, gathering region, livestock region and dairy region. Question 30 followed the same five-out-of-seven format on an India map, with a population-density state, tea-producing state, mineral areas, an oil refinery, a seaport and an airport.
The Class 12 syllabus gives the subject units, while the Class 12 exam pattern explains the common rules for the board papers.
The 2026 Geography marking schemes are arranged by paper code. The scheme for 64/1/1 gives the expected answer points and the mark for each part of a question.
The listed points guide evaluation, but a correct answer can receive marks even when it uses different words. If both options of an internal-choice question are attempted, both are checked and the answer with the higher marks is kept. A continuing mistake should be penalised only once.
The available 2025 papers include codes from the 64/1 and 64/2 series.
