The paper used four mark groups. The 20 one-mark questions formed the largest group by question count, while the five 6-mark questions carried the highest combined weight of 30 marks.
| Question type | Number of questions | Marks per question | Total marks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Objective | 20 | 1 | 20 |
| Short answer | 6 | 3 | 18 |
| Long answer I | 3 | 4 | 12 |
| Long answer II | 5 | 6 | 30 |
| Total | 34 | — | 80 |
Part A was compulsory. It covered partnership changes, goodwill, admission and retirement of partners, death of a partner, dissolution, issue and reissue of shares, and debentures. The paper did not keep these topics in one question type. They appeared across MCQs, journal entries and longer calculations.
For example, Question 20 asked for goodwill based on super profits. Question 21 asked for journal entries on the issue and redemption terms of debentures. Question 22 used a balance sheet and the death of a partner to test the amount due to the legal representative. These questions required both the correct accounting treatment and clear working.
Part B had two options. Students answered one complete option, not a mix of both. The first option covered financial statement analysis, accounting ratios and cash flow. The second option covered computerised accounting, data, accounting software, vouchers, validation and chart formatting.
Both options used Question numbers 27 to 34. This does not increase the paper beyond 34 questions. The repeated numbers belong to the two choices available in Part B.
The paper moved from short checks of accounting rules to calculations and journal entries. The first 20 one-mark questions tested whether students could quickly identify the correct treatment. The longer questions then used the same areas in fuller problems, especially partnership changes, shares and debentures.
The compulsory section included questions on interest on capital, mutual agency, pro-rata allotment, loss on issue of debentures, goodwill adjustment, partner retirement and cash settlement. The 6-mark questions carried 30 of the 80 marks, so correct steps and working notes mattered more than short final answers alone.
The current Accountancy syllabus explains the units taught for the board exam. The Class 12 exam pattern covers the wider paper rules used across subjects.
The 2024 table has 15 papers under codes 67/1/1 to 67/5/3. Open the row that matches the code printed on the booklet. The linked paper pages keep each code separate.
