A VITEEE raw score cannot be converted into an exact rank using a public official formula. For 2026, the score calculation is +4 per correct answer and -1 per wrong answer, out of a maximum of 500.
VIT has not announced the 2027 result method. The worked examples below apply the 2026 marking scheme and explain the difference between raw marks, a score percentage and an admission rank.
| Correct | Wrong | Blank | Score |
|---|---|---|---|
| 90 | 20 | 15 | 340 |
| 90 | 10 | 25 | 350 |
| 80 | 20 | 25 | 300 |
| 100 | 25 | 0 | 375 |
2026 calculation: 4C - W, before any dropped-question adjustment.
| Input or output | What it establishes |
|---|---|
| Correct and wrong counts | Raw marks under a known scheme |
| Raw marks / maximum | Raw-score percentage |
| Official merit result | Candidate rank |
| Practice score alone | No exact admission rank |
| Change | 2026 score difference |
|---|---|
| One wrong becomes unanswered | +1 |
| One wrong becomes correct | +5 |
| Five wrong become correct | +25 |
These are mathematical differences under +4/-1, not predicted changes in rank.
There is no official public conversion that establishes one rank for 100 marks. The score must also be tied to its marking scheme: 100 out of 500 is not the same percentage as 100 out of 125.
No. A raw-score percentage compares marks with the maximum. A percentile would require a defined comparison with candidate performance. The 340/500 example establishes only 68% raw marks.
Only as an explicitly dated estimate if its dataset and method are available, not as a current conversion. A changed marking scheme also breaks direct comparison of raw-score bands.
Rank matters, but the relevant option also includes campus, programme and fee category, alongside eligibility and availability. A branch prediction that omits these fields is incomplete.
