VITEEE 2023 Question Paper and Solutions

The Mathematics-route compilation has a separate question paper and solution download. The questions are grouped by subject, so Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics can be attempted separately.

VITEEE 2023 Subject-Wise Analysis

Physics

The first Physics question compares photoelectron energies for different wavelengths. Other questions cover an LCR impedance graph, a Carnot engine, magnetic fields, a gas mixture and the tension in a vibrating string. For heat-engine efficiency, temperatures must be in kelvin rather than degrees Celsius.

Chemistry

Chemistry includes organic reaction products, metallurgy and vapour-pressure relationships. Product questions need the reagent and reaction conditions together. In a vapour-pressure problem, distinguish the mole fraction in the liquid from the composition of the vapour.

Mathematics

Mathematics includes matrix identities, a determinant with algebraic entries and binomial expansions. When expansions with opposite signs are added, terms with odd powers can cancel. This can give the number of non-zero terms without writing the entire expansion.

Aptitude and English

English questions ask about the meaning of conviction, the writer's reasoning and how one sentence relates to another. Aptitude includes data-sufficiency questions, where the task is to decide which statements provide enough information.

VITEEE 2023 Paper Structure and Weightage

The 2023 examination had 125 MCQs in 150 minutes. Mathematics or Biology had 40 questions, Physics and Chemistry had 35 each, Aptitude had 10 and English had 5. The download uses Mathematics.

Mathematics accounts for 32% of the compilation's marks, while Physics and Chemistry account for 28% each. Aptitude and English contribute the remaining 12%.

VITEEE 2023 Difficulty Level

In feedback from 17 April 2023, students described the paper as moderate overall. Mathematics required more time, while English and Aptitude were easier. Physics was moderate and Chemistry was easy to moderate. This feedback relates to that exam date, not a confirmed shift identity for the compilation.

VITEEE 2023 Marking Scheme

The 2023 scheme awarded 1 mark per correct answer, with no negative marking. In 2026, the rule changed to +4 for a correct answer and -1 for a wrong answer. The example below shows why the same attempt gives different raw totals.

Under the 2026 rules, marked-for-review responses scored zero and an officially dropped question earned full marks for all candidates.

Photoelectric Effect: Wavelength and Kinetic Energy

For the photoelectric-effect question, use maximum kinetic energy = photon energy - work function. Doubling wavelength halves photon energy, but it does not simply halve the electron's kinetic energy. The work function must still be subtracted for each metal plate.
