VITEEE 2027 Mathematics syllabus has not been released. The 2026 syllabus contains 10 units; these are the starting point for preparation, with their topics listed below.

Mathematics had 40 questions worth up to 160 marks in the 2026 paper. The marking was +4 for a correct answer and -1 for a wrong answer. Mathematics belongs to MPCEA.

Two-Dimensional Analytical Geometry	Straight lines and families of lines; general conic equations, classification and eccentricity; parabola, ellipse and hyperbola in standard/general forms; focus, directrix, latus rectum, parametric forms, chords, tangents, normals and chord of contact.
Vector Algebra	Scalar and vector products, their properties and applications; scalar and vector triple products.
Three-Dimensional Analytical Geometry	Coordinates, distances and section formula; direction ratios/cosines, angle between intersecting lines; skew lines and shortest distance; equations of lines and planes, line-plane intersection and coplanarity.
Differential Calculus	Limits, continuity and differentiability; tangents, normals and angle between curves; Rolle's and Lagrange mean-value theorems; Taylor and Maclaurin series; stationary points, increasing/decreasing functions, maxima/minima, concavity, inflection, errors and approximations.
Integral Calculus and Applications	Definite integrals and their properties, fundamental theorems of calculus, reduction formulae, areas of bounded regions and lengths of curves.
Differential Equations	Formation, order and degree; first-order equations using variable separation, homogeneous and linear methods; applications.
Probability and Distributions	Axioms, addition and multiplication laws, conditional probability and Bayes' theorem; random variables, probability-density/distribution functions, expectation and variance; binomial and Poisson distributions.
Discrete Mathematics	Sets, relations, functions and binary operations; AP, GP and HP, binomial theorem and counting; statements, connectives, truth tables, logical equivalence, tautologies and contradictions.

The 32% share is calculated from 40/125. VIT does not assign a fixed question count to each chapter. Chapter-wise weightage must therefore be separated from the confirmed subject allocation.

The 150 minutes apply to the whole test, not to this subject alone. The paper pattern also includes the remaining science section, English and Aptitude.

How to Practise Mathematics

Probability and discrete maths	State whether selection is ordered, independent or conditional. Revise truth tables and binary operations separately from counting exercises.

Conditional probability

A box contains 3 red and 2 blue balls. Two are drawn without replacement. Given that the first is red, the probability that the second is red is 2/4 = 1/2. The denominator changes because only four balls remain.

This is an original worked example, not a past VITEEE question. The previous-year question-paper collection can be used for longer practice; keep the year and marking scheme of each paper separate.

Fitting This Subject Into the Full Paper

Mathematics is the 40-question subject in MPCEA. Physics and Chemistry contribute 35 questions each, followed by Aptitude and English. A PCM/PCMB applicant using this route could be considered for all BTech programmes under the 2026 qualifying conditions.

The English and Aptitude syllabus accounts for 15 questions in total. Those sections require separate language and reasoning practice rather than another round of science revision.

Mathematics Preparation

Is Discrete Mathematics included in VITEEE?+

Yes. The 2026 list includes sets, relations, functions, binary operations, sequences, counting and mathematical logic. It is not limited to probability or permutations.

Are indefinite integrals listed as a separate syllabus unit?+

The named unit is Integral Calculus and its Applications, whose listed coverage focuses on definite integrals, reduction formulae, areas and curve lengths. Antiderivative methods are useful prerequisites for solving those problems, even though they are not a separate numbered unit.

Do all Mathematics chapters have equal weightage?+

No equal chapter split is specified. Forty questions are assigned to Mathematics in the 2026 pattern; that does not mean four questions from each of the ten units.

Can a PCMB student choose Mathematics instead of Biology?+

Yes. In the 2026 admission rules, a PCM/PCMB candidate taking MPCEA could be considered for all BTech programmes when the relevant qualifying-exam conditions were met. Choosing BPCEA instead restricted the eligible programme list.

Should I wait for the 2027 syllabus before starting?+

You can begin with the published 2026 Mathematics topics. Treat that list as the preparation reference, not a confirmed 2027 notification. Keep the unit names in your notes so any later addition or deletion can be identified directly.
