Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology have ten questions each; English has five. The subject analysis explains the main topics, question types and calculations, followed by an original PCM practice set.
VITEEE 2019 Paper Pattern and Section-Wise Marks
VITEEE 2019 was a computer-based test with 125 multiple-choice questions in 150 minutes. Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Biology had equal weightage. English carried the remaining five marks.
| 2019 section | Questions | Marks |
|---|
| Physics | 40 | 40 |
| Chemistry | 40 | 40 |
| Mathematics or Biology | 40 | 40 |
| English | 5 | 5 |
| Total | 125 | 125 |
Each question had four options and one correct answer. The paper was in English, with one mark for a correct answer and no negative marking. Aptitude was not a separate section in 2019.
VITEEE 2019 Physics Question Paper
The Physics practice paper has ten questions on circular motion, heat capacities of gases, capacitance, current electricity, magnetic fields, AC circuits, mirrors, X-rays, Rutherford scattering and semiconductors.
The gas-mixture question is a useful example of combining concepts rather than averaging answers. For one mole of oxygen and two moles of helium, add their heat capacities first: Cp = 17R/2 and Cv = 11R/2. Their ratio is 17/11, not the average of the two gases' individual ratios.
In the LCR question, removing either the inductor or capacitor produces the same phase-angle magnitude. This gives equal inductive and capacitive reactances. They cancel in the complete circuit, so its power factor is 1. The Physics solutions cover the circuit, optics and atomic-physics questions too.
VITEEE 2019 Chemistry Question Paper
Chemistry covers quantum numbers, metallurgy, solid state, catalysts, electrochemistry and organic reactions. Organic Chemistry accounts for five of the ten practice questions, including stereochemistry and identifying reaction products.
The quantum-number question turns on the range of ml: it must lie between -l and +l. With l = 3, ml = 4 is not allowed. In the nickel-silver cell, the balanced reaction transfers two electrons, so the Nernst equation uses RT/2F and the reaction quotient [Ni2+]/[Ag+]2.
For organic conversions, distinguish the reagent's effect. Hydroboration followed by oxidation converts but-1-ene into butan-1-ol; Sn/HCl reduces nitrobenzene to aniline. Compare these with the remaining reactions in the Chemistry questions and solutions.
VITEEE 2019 Mathematics Question Paper
The Mathematics paper combines determinants, roots of unity, conics, vectors, three-dimensional geometry, calculus, probability and permutations. Several questions need a short observation before calculation.
For example, if g is the inverse of f, differentiate f(g(x)) = x. This gives g'(x) = 1/f'(g(x)); for f'(x) = 1/(1 + x5), the answer is 1 + [g(x)]5. Substituting x directly into the reciprocal misses the inverse-function argument.
The coin-toss question asks for a probability greater than 1/16. For a fair coin, the chance of no heads in n tosses is (1/2)n. Four tosses give exactly 1/16, so the largest allowed n is 3. The Mathematics solutions also explain the conic equation, enclosed area and permutation questions.
VITEEE 2019 Biology Question Paper
The ten Biology questions cover classification, cell structures, reproduction, genetics, diseases, respiration, photosynthesis, excretion, biotechnology and the environment. They include both direct identification and questions where the wording changes the calculation.
In the genetics question, crossing two heterozygous tall pea plants gives TT:Tt:tt in a 1:2:1 ratio. The question asks for homozygous plants among the tall offspring. There is one TT plant for every three tall plants, so the answer is 1/3. The answer would be 1/4 only if the question asked for TT plants among all offspring.
Other questions distinguish the parts of the fallopian tube, the site of blood filtration and disease-causing organisms. Use the Biology solutions alongside these questions.
VITEEE 2019 English Question Paper
English has five questions: three on prose passages, one on syllable division and one on rhyme scheme. The passages ask about a character's situation, the reason for a complaint and the meaning of a social reformer's actions.
In the Champaran passage, the appeal for teachers supports the answer about improving social and cultural conditions. It does not suggest that the aim was the teachers' own welfare. This is the main distinction between the closest options. The English solutions explain all five answers.
Important Topics in the 2019 Practice Papers
Calculus is the largest topic group in the Mathematics practice paper. The counts below group each question by its main topic; the determinant-and-integration question is counted under Calculus.
| Mathematics practice paper: topic | Questions |
|---|
| Calculus, including determinant-based integration | 4 |
| Geometry and vectors | 3 |
| Probability and permutations | 2 |
| Roots of unity | 1 |
Chemistry has five organic questions and five questions across physical and inorganic topics. Physics spreads its ten questions across mechanics, thermal physics, electricity, optics and modern physics. These are counts for the short practice papers, not chapter-wise weightage across all 2019 shifts.
For preparation for a later exam, use the VITEEE syllabus to check the full unit list. These papers do not cover every unit.
How Difficult Are the 2019 Practice Questions?
The difficulty varies by question. Chemistry includes direct concept checks, such as the effect of a catalyst, alongside stereochemistry and electrochemistry. Biology includes straightforward classification questions, but the genetics problem needs careful choice of the denominator.
Mathematics has more connected steps. Its conic question combines focus-directrix distance with eccentricity, while the function question combines differentiation and a definite integral. Physics requires interpreting circuit diagrams and choosing the correct relationship before substituting values.
This assessment is based on the questions in the subject practice papers, rather than a rating of every 2019 exam shift. For further revision, the VITEEE preparation guide covers subject practice and mock-test review.
How to Calculate Your Practice Score
Use the 2019 rule of one mark per correct answer. For a ten-question paper, eight correct answers, one wrong answer and one unanswered question give 8/10, or 80%.
| Response | 2019 marks |
|---|
| Correct answer | +1 |
| Wrong answer | 0 |
| Unanswered | 0 |
Accuracy is different: eight correct answers out of nine attempted give 88.9%. The practice percentage includes the unanswered question; attempt accuracy does not. Neither result is a VITEEE percentile or rank.
The latest VITEEE pattern guide covers newer exam rules. Keep those separate from the 2019 marking used here.
