Assam NEET UG 2026 stray-round registration closes today, October 17, at 11:59 PM. The Directorate of Medical Education, Assam has opened the process for vacant state-quota MBBS and BDS seats in government medical and dental colleges.
Registered candidates will fill choices from October 18 to October 19, with the allotment result scheduled for October 21. A candidate who has already joined an AIQ or state-quota seat up to Round 3 is not eligible for this further round.
DME Assam issued the educational notice on October 16, 2026, for admission to first-year MBBS and BDS courses in the 2026 session. The round is limited to vacant state-quota seats in government medical and dental colleges of Assam.
This is a complete counselling sequence rather than a one-day registration event. Registration is followed by choice filling, a separate locking window, seat processing, result publication and reporting at the allotted institution.
| Activity | Date and time | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Online registration | October 17, up to 11:59 PM | Complete the registration step on the DME Assam portal. |
| Online choice filling | October 18 to October 19, up to 10:00 PM | Enter and arrange the available college-course choices. |
| Choice locking | October 19, 7:00 PM to 11:59 PM | Lock the final choices; an unlocked set will be locked automatically after the window. |
| Seat allotment processing | October 20 | DME processes the submitted choices and eligible candidate data. |
| Result | October 21 | The allotment result and admission modalities are scheduled to be published. |
| Reporting and joining | October 25 to October 26 | Provisionally selected candidates must report as directed by DME Assam. |
A candidate must have qualified NEET UG 2026, met the applicable cutoff and satisfied the eligibility conditions in the Medical Colleges and Dental Colleges of Assam admission rules of 2017, as amended through 2026.
The notice also applies an important seat-holding restriction: a candidate who joined a seat up to Round 3 of All India Quota or state-quota counselling is not eligible to participate in further AIQ or state-quota rounds. A candidate should assess eligibility from the seat actually joined, not only from whether a later upgrade is desired.
The notice says an unlocked choice set will be locked automatically after the locking window. Candidates should still review the sequence themselves before the deadline rather than depending on automatic locking to correct an unfinished order.
The October 16 notice does not list the number of seats, a college-wise seat matrix, a common admission-fee amount, an itemised document checklist or the detailed reporting procedure. It says the result will be published with the admission modalities.
Candidates should therefore avoid relying on an older round's vacancy count, fee or reporting checklist. Those details may differ for the stray round and should be taken from the current DME portal and the instructions released with the October 21 result.
Provisionally selected candidates are scheduled to report and join between October 25 and October 26. Before travelling, check the allotment result, the reporting venue, the required originals and copies, the accepted payment method and any college-specific timing in the new admission instructions.
The official route is the DME Assam website at dme.assam.gov.in. Candidates should monitor it through the result and reporting stages because the notice directs them to use the portal for updates.
