The National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) is the gateway for aspirants to pursue undergraduate programs like MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and veterinary courses.
In 2024, NEET offered a total of 196,515 seats across various programs in 1,981 colleges, including 109,170 MBBS seats and 28,088 BDS seats.
- The seats are divided in government and private sector colleges, with the government institution having 51% of the seat proportion and the private having 49% seat weightage.
- According to the NMC report, the highest number of seats is in Tamil Nadu with 11575 seats, followed by Karnataka and Maharashtra.
NEET 2025 Total Number of Seats
The total seats in NEET are divided into different courses i.e. MBBS, BDS, Ayush, and BVSc. The official notification for the total seats in NEET has not been announced yet but according to the previous year's analysis, the data for MBBS, BDS, Ayush, and BVSc courses are given in the table below:

AIQ vs State Quota in NEET Seat Matrix
AIQ Quota
The AIQ seat matrix is 15% of the total government medical college seats in every state except for Jammu and Kashmir. These seats are open to candidates from all over India.
The Medical Counselling Committee under the Directorate General of Health Committee manages the AIQ seat allotment.

State Quota
- 85% of government medical college seats are reserved for candidates in that particular state.

The NEET exam has recorded a consistent increase in the growth of seats in government and private medical colleges throughout India. The table below provides the data on seat availability in the NEET exam for different years:

- The Seats in the NEET exam have been increasing significantly in recent years. An increase of approximately 100% in the seats can be seen from 2015 to 2024.

There are different scholarships provided for VIT students and each has different Criteria. Some of them are mentioned below.
- VITEEE Scholarship under GV School Development Programme (GVSDP): Scholarships are given to the rank scored in VITEEE in the first year of the program and are continued on the basis of the criteria mentioned in the award letter issued during admission.
- Smt. Rajeswari Viswanathan Memorial Scholarship: Scholarships given to meritorious candidates from an economically weak background who satisfy the criteria specified in the application.
- Merit Awards for NRI and Foreign students: For the top 10 students of each branch of a program from 1st to final year with a record of 75% above attendance and no history of arrears, also do not violate the university's code of conduct.
- Cent percent Attendance Awards: Students who maintain a record of 100% attendance
- Sports Scholarship: For the students with great records and performance in various sports.
