Important Details about NEET Age Limit

  • From the beginning, there were no age limits/ upper age caps for the aspirants of NEET. However, this was challenged by a few aspirants and the decision was made by the Hon'ble Supreme Court to put a cap on the upper age limit.
  • The decision was challenged because there was unfair competition among the candidates as per the sources.
  • There was competition among the candidates who had just cleared their 12th Boards and had a good grasp of the topics, whereas others had spent years preparing for the exams.
  • To beat this competition, the decision of putting a cap on the upper age limit was made and the maximum age to apply was set to 25 years (for General candidates) and 30 years for candidates belonging to the reserved categories.
  • After analyzing many situations and considering the challenges faced by many candidates, the NMC in its meeting on October 21, 2021, and the agreements announced on March 4, 2022 decided that there should not be a cap on the Upper Age Limit for the candidates appearing for NEET.

Is there any NEET Attempt Limit?

There is no attempt limit for NEET for both reserved and unreserved categories.. You can appear for the exam as many times as you want provided you fulfill the age criterion and other NEET eligibility requirements as specified in the information bulletin.
