NEET Reservation criteria have been passed by the candidates and now it accepts candidates only to get the benefit of 27% OBC & 10% EWS reservation under 15% AIQS in the NEET counselling process. The NEET Reservation policy’s update will benefit 2,700 OBC and 550 EWS students. While filling out the NEET Application form, candidates must add the category carefully to be eligible for NEET Reservation.

  • Previously mentioned criteria under 15% AQI seats were eligible only for admissions in National institutes or Central universities.
  • The TN government approved the proposal of a 7.5% reservation for students who come from government schools in TN state medical colleges after qualifying in NEET.
  • Terror attack victims like spouses & children also get a chance to reservation for MBBS and BDS admissions. Those seats are reserved under the central pool of seats for medical admissions.

NEET Reservation: Revised for 15% AIQS seats

  • The Government of India has decided to introduce 27% OBC-NCL and 10% EWS reservation in 15% AIQ MBBS and BDS seats with effect from 2021-22 academic sessions.
  • The government also published the notice for reserving 5 MBBS seats under the central pool for children-19 warriors. Colleges offering those five seats are MGIMS Wardha, LHMCC, Jabalpur, JLN Medical college Ajmer, and GMC Haldwani.

NEET 2022 Reservation: For OBC

NTA and MCC have published the new OBC quota/ reservation. Previously the 27% reservation in 15% of AIQ seats was only for OBC candidates but from this year OBC-NCL candidates can claim OBC reservation in NEET 2022 too.

  • The new changes in reservation criteria will benefit the 2700 OBC and 550 EWS candidates.
  • At the time of NEET 2022 counselling rounds to get the benefit of OBC-NCL reservation, candidates are requested to fill the category in the NEET application form.
  • During the time of applying for NEET 2022 counselling rounds, candidates must check that they have all the needed documents, without which they would not be taken as eligible candidates for the reservation.
  • OBC-NCL candidates can get the benefit of a 27% reservation by taking admission to MBBS and BDS colleges.

NEET 2022 Reservation: For PwD

Students who will come under the PwD category will be given a 5% reservation during getting admission to medical colleges. Candidates will also need to fulfil the rules or conditions instructed by the authority to appeal the benefits of reservation.

  • Eligible degrees of disability must be 40% or more to apply for the Pwd quota.
  • The degree of disability must be checked or analyzed as per the guidelines noted by the Govt.
  • Should hold a “Certificate of Disability”.
  • Disability certificates must be made from the 12 chosen centres by NTA.

NEET 2022 Reservation: For EWS

According to this, 10% reservation in jobs and education will be approved for the EWS candidates who belong to the General quota candidates. Persons who are not covered in the scheme of reservation for SCs, STs, and OBCs and their families should have an annual income within Rs 8 lakh and are only recognized as EWS for the benefit of reservation. The benefit of reservation under EWS can appear upon production of an Income and Asset Certificate issued by a Competent Authority.

  • EWS reservations at all India levels i.e. for 15% AIQ seats will be provided in the central universities.
  • For the 85% state quota seats, respective states authority will publish their own criteria to implement the EWS reservation in NEET.

Who can’t access the EWS quota?

Below are the following points which highlight the restriction on candidates to access the EWS quota.

  • A person who has agricultural land of more than five acres can’t access this type of reservation category.
  • To get EWS, your family should not own or possess a residential flat of area 1000 sq. feet or more.
  • To get EWS, your family should not own or possess a residential plot of area 100 sq. yards or more in notified municipalities.
  • You should note that 100 sq. yards are equal to 900 sq ft OR 2 cents (approx).
  • To get EWS, your family should not own or possess a residential plot of area 200 sq. yards or more in areas other than in notified municipalities.
  • The total family income should be less than 8 lakhs.

If candidates fall under the above instructions you won’t come under the EWS reservation category.

Authorities that can issue an ‘Income and Asset Certificate’

Below are the following points which are mentioned in order to understand the competent authorities for issuing the ‘income and asset certificate’.

  • Deputy Commissioner/District Magistrate/Additional Deputy Commissioner/ Additional District Magistrate/Sub-Divisional Magistrate/Collector/Extra Assistant Commissioner/Taluka Magistrate! Executive Magistrate/ 1st Class Stipendiary Magistrate
  • Revenue Officer, whose rank is not below the Tehsildar
  • Presidency Magistrate/Chief Presidency Magistrate/Additional Chief Presidency Magistrate
  • Sub-divisional officer
  • The area, where the aspirant or/and his family is residing.

NEET Reservation 2022: For 85% State Quota Seats

  • A Merit List will be published and under the state quota, 85% of the seats are completed, through state counselling evaluated separately by every state/Union Territory.
  • Candidates should contact their respective state counselling authority to know the dates and methods for the similar.
  • Candidates should check out the process and dates of NEET State-wise Counseling.
  • Admission through state quota will be subject to the eligibility criteria and reservation policy avail in the State or Union Territory where the student seeks admission.

NEET Reservation 2022: For 15% AIQ Seats

For 15% All India Quota Seats, Indian Nationals, NRIs, OCI, PIO, and Foreign Nationals are eligible. To take admission via AIQ, candidates have to take part in online counselling for NEET conducted by MCC.

  • Counselling rounds will be organized and after the result of all the rounds, if any seats stay vacant under AIQ, they will be converted into State Quota seats.
  • Names in the merit list must be equal to the number of AIQ seats obtainable
  • Andhra Pradesh and Telangana will now participate in 15% All India Quota Counseling and will not need the submission of a self-declaration form.

Reservation for UT of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh Candidates

Candidates from these Union Territories must sign a self-declaration form while filling the application form for NEET 2022 to claim the reservation benefits.

  • 4 per cent seats would be reserved exclusively for students of Ladakh in Medical and Engineering colleges in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir. It may further be noted that the government of India, in this connection, had constituted an Advisory Committee and had asked it to submit its recommendations.
  • 50% All India Quota seats of all states are subject to their contribution of seats for UT of Jammu & Kashmir students.

NEET Reservation 2022: For Deemed Universities

  • DGHS is designed for conducting AIQ counselling which also includes the seats given by Deemed/Central universities
  • ESIC college and AFMS institutes are also offered in that list only.
  • Directorate General of Armed Forces Medical Services, Ministry of Defense, Government of India lays down rules and regulations for admission to AFMC, Pune.

NEET Reservation 2022: 7.5% Quota in TN Government Schools

As per the recent reports, a 7.5% quota for government school students in the TN state Medical colleges after founding the eligible NEET has been allowed by Tamil Nadu Cabinet. This 7.5% quota will be implied within the existing reservation which means it will be a Quota within Quota.

  • Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami said that the state government will work to provide reservations to students from the government who will pass NEET.
  • The decision has been taken because in TN state it has been seen that the number of candidates admitted to the MBBS programs from government schools is decreasing every year.
  • Yet, the reservation will be provided to students who did their schooling (Classes 6 to 12) in a government school in Tamil Nadu.
  • Temporarily, the state has been trying to upgrade its state board syllabus to bring it on par with the CBSE syllabus.
  • The state has also taken initiative to provide free medical coaching for NEET preparation.

NEET Reservation 2022: For Children of COVID-19 warriors

  • The Central Government has finalized to reserve a total of five MBBS seats from the central pool for wards of COVID-19 warriors.
  • The Union Health Ministry has also implemented a new category called Wards of COVID Warriors, under the guidelines for shortlisting candidates against central pool MBBS seats.
  • Wards of frontline Covid warriors will get reservations for admission to undergraduate medical courses including MBBS and BDS.

NEET Reservation 2022: For Victims of Terror Attack

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has written a letter to chief secretaries of all states and UTs along with the guidelines regarding Quota in NEET for Victims of Terror Attacks. 

  • Under this, the spouses and children of terror attack victims can get reservations after qualifying for NEET in MBBS and BDS colleges.
  • These seats are reserved under the central pool of seats for medical admissions.
Who is Eligible for this Quota? Selection of Candidates for this Quota
  • Children who are or were exposed to the risk of terrorism, or who come on the hit list of terrorist organisations, or children belonging to the family of Kashmire Migrants and have lost their livelihood etc are eligible for the central pool of MBBS and BDS seats.
  • Children of families where a parent or a direct family member has been killed in an act of terrorism or an innocent victim of firing by armed forces while handling terrorism in UTs of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are eligible for this quota.
  • Candidates will be selected based on NEET.
