Chhattisgarh NEET UG 2026 Round 4, the stray-vacancy round for MBBS and BDS admissions, is open for new applications and fresh institution choices. New candidates can apply until October 18 at 5:00 PM, while choice filling and locking remain available until 11:59 PM on the same day.
The Directorate of Medical Education, Chhattisgarh issued the notice on October 16 for vacancies remaining after the mop-up allotment and admission process. The round covers government and private medical and dental colleges in the state.
CGDME has invited eligible candidates who are entering the counselling process now as well as previously registered candidates who did not receive a seat in any earlier round. The application and choice windows opened together on October 17 at 11:00 AM, but they close at different times on October 18.
This distinction is important. A new candidate must complete the online application by 5:00 PM, whereas eligible candidates have until 11:59 PM to finish choice filling and locking.
| Process | Opening time | Closing time |
|---|---|---|
| New online application | October 17, 2026 at 11:00 AM | October 18, 2026 at 5:00 PM |
| Choice filling and locking | October 17, 2026 at 11:00 AM | October 18, 2026 at 11:59 PM |
Under the rule cited in the notice, this stage is open to newly registering eligible candidates and to previously registered candidates who were not allotted a seat in any previous counselling round. Candidates should not read the phrase “previously registered” by itself as sufficient eligibility; the no-allotment condition also applies.
The notice is for MBBS and BDS admissions after Round 3, or the mop-up round. Applicants should verify their prior allotment status before paying or submitting choices.
CGDME states that the institution choices entered in earlier rounds have been reset. Every previously registered eligible candidate must make new institution choices during this window. A candidate who does not submit fresh choices cannot receive an allotment in the stray round.
A previously registered candidate who had selected only government medical colleges earlier must pay the difference between the private-college registration amount and the amount already deposited before choosing private medical colleges. The notice does not state a single universal difference amount, so candidates should use the amount calculated in their official login.
Payment should be made only through the state counselling portal. Candidates should avoid agents or third parties claiming that they can secure admission, a warning that CGDME repeats in the notice.
New applicants and previously registered eligible candidates may edit the online application without an editing charge until the application deadline. Some fields remain locked: entries received directly from the central government's examination-result data, the mobile number entered by the candidate and the email address cannot be changed.
Candidates should review all editable fields before the 5:00 PM deadline instead of waiting until the choice-locking cut-off. The later 11:59 PM time applies to choices, not to the new application form.
The notice says that from the second round onward, a candidate who does not join an allotted seat or who joins and then surrenders it will forfeit the registration amount. CGDME therefore advises candidates to list only colleges where they genuinely intend to take admission.
If seats remain after the stray round and enough time is available, or if the Medical Counselling Committee revises the admission schedule, CGDME may conduct another allotment using the choices submitted in this process. A careful choice order may therefore remain relevant beyond the first stray allotment.
The NRI-category admission deadline has ended. According to the notice, those seats have been transferred to the management quota under the cited Chhattisgarh admission rules. Candidates should use the current portal classification rather than an older seat label.
CGDME directs candidates to monitor cgdme.in and cgdme.admissions.nic.in for the next counselling steps and other information. The October 16 notice does not provide the allotment-result or reporting dates, so those details should be taken from the next official schedule rather than from an earlier round.
