National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the postponement of the NEET-UG examination in Manipur, which was originally scheduled for Sunday, due to the ongoing law-and-order situation in the state. The candidates who were assigned exam centers in Manipur will be informed of the rescheduled exam date.

Dr. Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, the MoS Education and BJP MP from Manipur, had made a request to the NTA to reschedule the exam in light of the situation in the state. However, he has stated that the situation is now improving, thanks to the arrival of central paramilitary forces and others to help control the violence.

NEET 2023 exam was originally scheduled to take place in two centers in Manipur, with 5,751 candidates set to appear. The violent clashes in the state are related to the proposed granting of scheduled tribe status to the majority Metei community, which has faced opposition from the Naga and Kuki tribals. A Tribal Solidarity March organized by these groups on Wednesday led to the outbreak of clashes.
