Ans. Validity of GATE scorecard is 3 years from the date of declaration of GATE result. For those whose GATE result will be declared on 19 March, their GATE scorecard will be valdi till 2029.
Opportunities After GATE 2026
GATE exam offers numerous opportunities for those who qualify the examination. Those who qualify the GATE examination will get the opportunities as listed below.
- Based on your gate scores, you can get admission to Masters Program/direct Doctoral programs in Engineering/Technology/Architecture/Science/Humanities in relevant branches.
- Admissions are offered by institutes supported by MoE and other government institutions.
- You can get financial assistance for your masters or doctoral degree based on your GATE scores.
- For direct PhD after BE/BTech/MSc equivalent, you can get INR 37,000 per month for first 2 years and INR 42000 for 3rd to 5th year.
- GATE scores can be used to get recruited in PSUs as listed below.

GATE 2026 Admit Card
GATE admit card 2026 is available on the GOAPS official website. You can download your GATE admit card by following the steps below.
- Go to the GoAPS official website at goaps.iitg.ac.in.
- Fill out the details like enrollment ID, and password.
- Click on login tab, and the GATE admit card will be displayed on the screen.
- Take printout of the GATE admit card for future reference.
Note: The official website of GATE 2026 notes that the name and address of GATE exam center number 2082 has changed. Those who are allotted with this exam center must download new GATE admit card from the official website.
GATE 2026 Exam Day Guidelines
Along with the GATE admit card, IIT Guwahati has released instructions to candidates that they must follow while appearing for the examination.
- Students must bring a hard copy of GATE admit card, electronic copy of admit card 2026 will not be acceptable.
- You must report to the examination center 90 minutes before the commencement GATE 2026 examination.
- You can occupy your seats and start reading instructions 20 minutes before the GATE 2026 examination.
- Virtual scientific calculator will be available on screen during the examination; no personal devices will be allowed in the examination.
- You can bring your own pen, pencil, and a transparent water bottle.
- Before schedule end of the examination, you cannot leave the GATE examination center.

GATE Exam Pattern 2026
Each paper of GATE 2026 is conducted for a total of 100 marks. Marks in each paper are distributed across various subjects.
- Papers with mathematics include 15 marks for General Aptitude, 13 marks for Mathematics, and 72 marks for the remaining subjects.
- Papers without Engineering Mathematics in GATE 2026, 15 marks are allotted to General Aptitude, and 85 marks for domain subjects.

Ques. What is GATE 2026 marking scheme?
Ans. GATE marking scheme allotts different marks for different types of questions.
- For each wrong 1 mark MCQ, ⅓ marks will be deducted.
- For each wrong 2 marks MCQ, ⅔ marks will be deducted.
- There is no negative marking and partial marking for MSQs and NAT questions.
