IIM Ahmedabad has raised the minimum CAT Percentile requirements and announced a more structured PGP admission policy for the 2026-28 batch. New CAT Cut-off requirements, which are applicable for the 2026-28 batch, are:

  • General and EWS candidates must meet 95 overall percentile and 85 percentile in each section (VARC, DILR and QA), up from last year’s 80 overall and 70 sectional requirements.
  • IIM Ahmedabad selection process continues to be a two-tier process, consisting of the Analytical Writing Test (AWT) and Personal Interview (PI).
  • Stage-wise screening gives 65% weightage to CAT 2025 Performance, and the remaining 35% weightage comes from Application Rating (AR), focusing on academics and profile.
  • The final merit is calculated on PI (50%), CAT Performance(25%), AWT(10%), and AR(15%).

IIM Ahmedabad qualifying cutoff is a minimum percentile mandatory for the shortlisting criteria. Though the cutoff for general category candidates is 95 percentile, the interview calls typically come after 99 percentile.

IIM Ahmedabad: Shortlisting for AWT and PI

Shortlisting for AWT and PI will be carried in two stages as discussed below.

  • Stage 1: In stage 1 of shortlisting, candidates will be selected from a pool of candidates with strong academic background. Selection will be based on composite scores of candidates. Only the top 5% candidates will be selected for AWT and PI round. Scores will be calculated as below.

  • Stage 2: In stage 2, students will be selected based on composite scores only subject to the fulfilment of criteria C1-C3, which state that candidates must have scored more than the CAT cutoff and the average percentage of marks must be greater than the minimum cutoff marks.

IIM Ahmedabad: Final Selection

Final selection of candidates will be carried out by IIM Ahmedabad based on Final Composite Scores (FCS). FCS of each candidat who appeared for AWT and PI will be calculated as below.
