IIM Indore Cutoff: CAT 2026 and Previous-Year Percentiles

IIM Indore has not published its CAT 2026 selection policy for the PGP 2027-29 intake. Its admissions page currently links to the CAT 2025 policy for the 2026-28 batch. The percentile cutoffs and selection weights in this guide belong to that previous admission cycle.

CAT 2025 minimum percentiles: PGP 2026-28 reference

Every sectional floor had to be met separately. A General applicant with 95 overall but 79 in QA did not clear the 80-percentile QA condition. EWS applicants used the same minimum percentiles as General applicants in this policy.

Clearing these floors allowed consideration for the next stage; it did not guarantee an interview. Indore ranked eligible applicants using a separate composite, then used another formula for final selection. PI Shortlist: School Marks, CAT Sections and Profile

For the 2026-28 intake, Class 10 and 12 together carried 35 points at the shortlist stage. CAT sections carried 55: VARC 16, DILR 16 and QA 23. The remaining components were diversity and work experience.

School marks were normalised rather than simply multiplied by their weight. For each school component, the formula was weight x (Z candidate - Z minimum) / (Z maximum - Z minimum). The institute supplied the normalised reference values; a percentage such as 90 in Class 12 did not automatically become 22.5 out of 25.

Each CAT component used the candidate's score in that section divided by the highest score in that section, multiplied by its weight. For example, a QA score equal to half the highest QA score would contribute 11.5 of the 23 shortlist points. This is an illustration of the formula, not a claim about an actual CAT score or percentile.

The policy allocated seven points to the diversity factor and zero to three to work experience. It did not provide a work-month scoring table or a detailed diversity-point allocation in the six-page document. Those entries cannot be turned into a reliable personal-score calculator.

For candidates without Class 10 marks because of COVID-19, the ten-point weight was redistributed proportionately between CAT sectional scores and Class 12. Where Class 12 marks were unavailable for that reason, its 25-point weight was redistributed between CAT sections and Class 10. These exceptions did not mean that every candidate could omit a low school score.

Final Selection and Personal Interview

At final selection, PI carried 45 points, CAT sections 40, school records ten and diversity five. VARC received 20 of the 40 CAT points, while DILR and QA received ten each. The shortlist and final formulas therefore rewarded the sections differently.

Class 10, Class 12 and PI used the published Z-score normalisation formula. CAT sections used the candidate-to-highest-sectional-score ratio. Work experience was a shortlist component, not a separate entry in the final composite table.

Attending PI was compulsory for moving to final selection. Candidates also had to meet the minimum performance set by the Admissions Committee across the interview parameters. A strong CAT score did not override a failure to meet a required PI standard.

The institute prepared category-wise final merit lists and made provisional offers accordingly. The historical policy allowed offline interviews in Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Indore, Kolkata and Mumbai, or online interviews depending on circumstances. These are previous-cycle locations, not a confirmed 2027 interview schedule.

Indore shortlists independently of other IIMs. Its personal interview stage should not be treated as an automatic continuation of a call received from another institute. The PGP policy listed PI; adding a separate WAT weight to this formula would change the published criteria.

Degree Eligibility and Academic Records

The historical domestic PGP route required a recognised bachelor's degree with 50% marks or equivalent CGPA. The threshold was 45% for SC, ST and PwD; General, EWS and NC-OBC applicants used 50%. Completed CA, CS, ICWA/CMA and FIAI qualifications were also listed as eligible professional routes with the applicable percentage.

Final-year bachelor's students and candidates awaiting results after completing degree requirements could apply. Provisional admission depended on a Principal/Registrar certificate confirming completion of every degree requirement. The CAT eligibility rules and the selected programme's conditions need to be satisfied separately.

School percentages included all subjects appearing on the marksheet, regardless of the board's own best-subject convention. Graduation percentage followed the university's practice. For grades, use the institution's certified conversion; divide CGPA by the maximum and multiply by 100 only when the institution confirms that it has no conversion scheme.

Candidates from the IB board needed the IB Diploma Indian Percentage Transcript. An ordinary self-calculated percentage was not a substitute for that specified record.

Documents, Reservation and Admission Deadlines

The June and December deadlines served different purposes: degree completion had to be certified by 30 June 2026; final marksheet and certificate submission was due by 31 December 2026. The later deadline did not extend the time allowed to finish the degree.

If an affiliated college issued a provisional certificate and the university marksheet did not clearly show that the degree had been passed, an additional university certificate had to establish the college's authority to issue that document. Failure to submit final proof cancelled provisional admission.

Reservation shares were NC-OBC 27%, SC 15%, ST 7.5%, EWS up to 10% and PwBD 5%. The applicable Central Government list at the CAT registration deadline governed category claims; a later category change was not accepted for that cycle. Applicants selected IIM Indore PGP in the CAT form without an additional programme application fee. Those expressing interest in PGP were also considered for PGP-HRM, but final selection followed each programme's own admission procedure. PGP weights should not be relabelled as PGP-HRM weights.
