CAT 2026 Dress Code: What Is Confirmed?

The detailed CAT 2026 clothing instructions have not been released with the admit card yet. Download is scheduled from 4 November. Use that card's entry and screening instructions for the examination on 29 November.

For now, choose simple clothing that is comfortable for sitting at a computer and easy to inspect during screening. This is a practical clothing choice, not an announced requirement to wear a particular colour, sleeve length or fabric.

Do not treat claims that a tattoo, beard, makeup, printed clothing or a pocket automatically disqualifies a candidate as confirmed CAT 2026 rules. Likewise, a rule from another entrance exam does not establish a CAT restriction. A clothing or footwear question that affects a medical or religious requirement needs the current instructions or an answer from the exam helpdesk.

Rough Work, Calculator and Items in the Exam Lab

The centre provides one scribble pad and a pen. All rough work belongs on that pad; writing on the admit card is treated as an unfair means. The pad must be returned after the test, and an extra pad is not ordinarily supplied.

There is a specific exception for PwBD candidates with blindness or low vision: an additional standard-size scribble pad is available on request. This exception should not be turned into a general promise of unlimited rough paper.

The on-screen calculator is available during the test. Practising with it is different from carrying a personal calculator, which is prohibited. The CAT pattern guide explains the computer-based section format.

Permission for Medicines and Essential Restricted Items

An essential medicine or another restricted item needed because of a medical condition or strictly unavoidable reason requires permission from the examination authority. Send the special request using the Authorization Form, with supporting documents and the admit card.

The form asks for the candidate's name, application number, exam shift, city and centre, along with the items requested and the reason. Its approval portion is completed by the CAT authorities. Filling in the candidate portion is not the same as receiving permission.

Carry the approval for the listed items to the centre. Permission does not remove routine screening. If you need an exception linked to a medical device or other unavoidable requirement, describe the actual item and evidence instead of assuming that a general prescription approves every item.

Entry Details and Assistance at the Centre

Once released, use your own admit card for the assigned venue, session and entry instructions. Match the venue address rather than travelling only to the city selected in the application. Requests to change an allotted centre are not accepted.

If a required item or assistance is involved, organise the applicable approval alongside your candidate documents. For a missing or incorrect card detail after release, raise the issue in Registered Candidate Login or contact 1800 210 0175, Monday-Saturday, 9 AM-6 PM, excluding holidays.

A technical system shift and a medical break have different timing rules. The timer is paused during an authorised system shift, but an emergency or medical bio-break requires re-frisking and its lost time is not compensated. Tell the invigilator about the actual problem rather than leaving the workstation without direction.
