IIM Bangalore CAT 2022 Cut Off & Selection Process

IIM Bangalore will release the selection process and criteria for admission to their MBA/PGP programmes 2023-25 batch involves three steps:

1. Phase 1: Shortlisting of candidates based on CAT score
2. Phase 2: WAT and PI
3. Final selection

Step by step procedure to get admission to IIM Bangalore is discussed below.

Phase 1: IIM Bangalore CAT Cut off 2022

For selecting and Shortlisting the candidates, authorities release the category-wise cut off to make IIM Bangalore shortlist criteria. The CAT cutoff 2022 for IIM Bangalore is decided on the basis of four determining factors.

1. Availability of seats in IIM Bangalore
2. Previous years’ cutoffs
3. CAT 2022 difficulty level
4. Category-wise reservation criteria

The CAT cut offs are only the minimum percentile required to be eligible for the WAT-PI round to get admission to IIM Bangalore. For example, if a General category candidate scores 85 percentile in CAT 2022, then he/she will be eligible for the Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI) round of IIM Bangalore. However, the final cut offs for each category may get higher. The expected qualifying cut off for the year 2022 is given below:

Eligible candidates will have to fill out the IIM Bangalore shortlist form on the official website of the institute to get selected for the WAT-PI round. Shortlisted candidates will be sent an invitation for the WAT-PI round via mail.

Parameters for IIM Bangalore WAT-PI round Shortlisting

Eligible candidates from Phase 1 of the selection process will be further evaluated for selection to the WAT-PI round on the basis of the parameters mentioned below:

• CAT (weight = 25)
  • VARC) – 8.75 points
  • DILR - 10 points
  • QA – 6.25 points.
• 10th board (weight = 10) 
• 12th board (weight = 5) 
• Bachelors (weight = 10)
• Weighted Work Experience (weight = 10)

Phase 2: IIM Bangalore WAT& PI

Phase 2 of the IIM Bangalore selection process includes two stages:

1. Written Ability Test (WAT): Selected Candidates will have to appear for WAT. It is a 30-minute essay writing test on topics from economic & business affairs, Socio-political, sports, etc.
2. Personal Interview (PI): In the PI round, candidates will be evaluated on the basis of their communication ability, academic background, quality of work experience, and other personal traits.

During the PI, all candidates will have to provide two reference letters from teachers in the academic institution where they’ve studied previously or from their employers. These reference letters will be used in further evaluation of the candidate.

IIM Bangalore Final Selection

The final selection of the candidate will be done strictly on the basis of ranks in each category on the final aggregate score. The WAT score and the PI score after standardization across interview panels and sessions will be added to the following parameters to arrive at the final aggregate score.

Note: The average quality of work experience score will be multiplied by the pre-PI work experience score. According to that, the work / professional experience component score (maximum score 5) used in Phase 1 will be revised in Phase 2 (maximum score 10).
