CAT cutoff will be released by the respective Indian Institute of Management (IIMs) on their respective official website for the admission of the academic year 2023-25. The aspirants who qualified for the cutoff will be eligible for admission to the IIMs and IITs. The candidates who qualified for the cutoff will receive the call for the Personal Interview/ Group Discussion round. Check GD-PI in IIMs

  • The CAT qualifying cutoff for IIM-A was 80 percentile for the General category and 85 percentile for IIM-B and IIM-C for the General category.

CAT Qualifying Cut off 2022 (Expected)

The final cut off of CAT will be released by the respective IIMs after the conduction of the CAT examination. The final cut off for the top Indian Institute of Management is expected to be above the 99 percentile for 2022. The cut off for the newer Indian Institute of Management and IIMS is expected to be around 90 to 95 percentile. Below given is the expected CAT 2022 cut off.

Final CAT Cut off 2022 (Expected)

Every year the difficulty of the CAT examination is rising and the cut off is also showing an upward trend. The difficulty of the exam of each section also varies in the CAT examination. if the aspirant scores more than 99 percentile, the aspirant may get a call from the below-mentioned IIMs.

  1. IIM Ahmedabad: If the applicant has around a 99.5 percentile CAT score, he may get a call from the IIMs. Moreover, the aspirant must have above 80 % in the class 10th, 12th, and Bachelor.
  2. IIM Bangalore and Calcutta: For getting admission to these two IIMs the procedure is the same as IIM Ahmedabad. Moreover, if the applicant has a low percentage, then the chances to get the call for the Personal Interview are low if you don’t have proper work experience.

Difference between Qualifying CAT Cut Off & Final CAT Cut Off

In the CAT examination, there are two types of cut off which are CAT Cut off (mainly for eligibility) and CAT final cut off. The differences between these two are mentioned in the tabular form below.

Qualifying CAT cut offs Final CAT cut offs
The following cut off gives the eligibility of the aspirant for the Personal interview or group discussion round and is also known by the name of eligibility cut off. It is called the IIM official cut off where a minimum percentage is fixed by the Indian Institute of Management for the selection of the aspirants.
Even if the candidate gets selected in the eligibility cut off there is no guarantee that he will be selected in the Personal Interview or Group Discussion round. Even if the candidate gets selected in the final cut off. He/ she cannot select the institute of his own choice but must take admission according to the percentage match of the Indian Institute of Management.
The qualifying cut off is figured out before the announcement of the CAT result. It is declared by the result of the announcement of the CAT result.
Since 2016, except for IIM Ahmedabad, the qualifying cut off for all the IIM is above the 90 percentile. Every year the final cut off for CAT is above 99 percentile and for some institutes, it is above 95 percentile.
The CAT qualifying cut offs include overall as well as sectional cut offs The final CAT cut offs include overall and sectional cut offs.

Factors Determining CAT 2022 Cutoff

The cut off mark of the CAT exam is calculated based on several factors. These factors change every year of CAT, due to which the cut off marks vary as well. The following points mention the key factors upon which CAT cut off is decided:

The number of applicants: If the total number of applicants applying for CAT is much greater than last year, then the cut off marks will automatically increase.

  • The Total number of seats in the IIMs and other participating institutes.
  • The overall difficulty level of the CAT paper.
  • The highest score will be obtained in the CAT.
  • Previous year cutoff trends of CAT.
  • Overall performance of the candidate of different categories.

CAT 2022: IIM Admission & Selection Process

CAT CAP Counselling is conducted for admission to different IIMs. The CAT CAP common admission process for IIM 2023-25 is:

  • The common rules, guidelines, or criteria are followed to offer admission to qualified CAT students during the CAT counseling process.
  • Every year different IIMs get the conducting authority of the examination.
  • The counseling of the CAT CAP is conducted in cities across India like Chandigarh, Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad, and Mumbai.

The overall procedure to get selected for the CAT 2022 exam is given below:

  • Appearing for the CAT 2022 exam: The aspirant must first appear in the CAT examination which is expected to be conducted on November 27th, 2022.
  • CAT Eligibility cut offs:  After the conduction of the CAT examination, the IIMs and other participating institutes will release the eligibility cut offs for admission into the various institutes.
