How to Prepare for CAT Online

Use an online lesson to learn a method, then close it and attempt a fresh question. Compare your steps with the explanation only after making an attempt. A second attempt tests correction; another unseen question tests whether the method transfers.

Original QA example: an item marked at INR 800 is sold at a 15% discount, giving a selling price of INR 680. If that is a 25% profit on cost, the cost is 680 / 1.25 = INR 544. Discount uses marked price; profit uses cost. A revision note should record those two bases, not only the final answer.

Apply that sequence to your weakest step. If the setup was wrong, another timed test alone will not teach it. If the setup was correct but you lost time choosing a method, use mixed questions without chapter labels.

Online Preparation for VARC, DILR and QA

For VARC, do not replace passage work with isolated vocabulary quizzes. If an option says a policy always succeeds but the author only suggests that it may help, the option strengthens the claim beyond the evidence.

For DILR, keep every chart, label and condition visible. In an assignment set, a ruled-out case must be eliminated because it violates a stated restriction, not because another arrangement looks more convenient.

For QA, record restrictions before manipulating an equation. Cancelling a factor that could be zero can remove a valid case; multiplying by an expression of unknown sign can reverse an inequality. The CAT syllabus guide organises the relevant preparation areas.

Free Resources, Recorded Lessons and Live Classes

If a lesson includes several solved examples, pause before each solution and attempt the next step. Watching a familiar explanation at higher speed is not equivalent to solving an unseen question.

Online Mocks and Error Analysis

Standard CAT timing is 120 minutes: VARC, DILR and QA have 40 minutes each. Time cannot be transferred between sections. PwBD compensatory time is shared equally across the three sections. Practise the applicable timing rather than pausing a mock whenever a question becomes difficult.

Correct answers earn 3 marks. Wrong MCQs lose 1 mark; wrong typed answers and unanswered questions score zero. A raw-score total describes that attempt, while a provider's percentile depends on its own test-taking group.

The official CAT mock link is scheduled for 12 November 2026. Its questions are illustrative; it is useful for checking navigation and response entry, not for predicting the final paper's question mix.

Review skipped questions before opening solutions. A question solved comfortably on a fresh untimed attempt suggests a different problem from a question you still cannot set up. This distinction changes what you practise next.

Online Study Alongside Work or College

Separate short learning tasks from uninterrupted tests. A lesson can be paused around a work schedule; a standard-time sectional needs 40 uninterrupted minutes, and a full mock needs 120. Keep a separate block to review the attempt.

If a full mock exposes the same arithmetic error in three questions, use the next short block to repair that operation and solve fresh examples. If DILR sets remain blank because you cannot form a model, replace a passive revision video with one complete set and its deduction review.
