IIM Trichy CAT 2026 Cutoff

The CAT 2025 thresholds for PGPM 2026-28 PI shortlisting were:

The same minimum applied to VARC, DILR and QA within each displayed category. Candidates also needed positive scaled scores in all three sections under JAP. Meeting these floors was necessary but did not guarantee shortlisting.

JAP registration also required these academic minimums:

Class 10 and 12 percentages included all subjects on the marksheets, not a best-of-subjects selection. Final-year qualifications followed the provisional-document conditions explained below.

This guide concerns the flagship PGPM. PGPM-HR and the working-executive PGPBM have separate programme criteria; shared institute branding does not make their admissions rules identical. The CAT cutoff guide distinguishes interview floors from later merit-list scores.

Selection Weights and Work-Experience Points

The two academic-diversity points required a non-engineering undergraduate degree with First Class or above. A non-engineering degree alone did not satisfy the full condition. The gender-diversity row in this programme policy specified female candidates.

CAT carried 52% and PI carried 20%. The published final-weight table did not assign a separate WAT component. School and undergraduate performance were distinct from the CAT contribution; the table did not give a complete conversion formula for each academic percentage.

Eligible completed work months were measured to 31 December 2025 for this intake:

The maximum ten points applied at 24-29 months. At 30 months the score fell to seven; at 48 months it became zero. These are stepped bands, not a linear reward for every additional month.

Valid work had to be paid, full-time and after the qualifying education. JAP required the applicable TDS, provident-fund or professional-tax support. Appointment and relieving dates and a work-experience certificate were mandatory at programme registration.

The common policy excluded:

• Part-time, project, internship, articleship and pre-graduation work
• Work before qualifying CA/ICWA(CMA)/CS results
• Unpaid or fellowship work
• Salary received in cash or through UPI apps
• Work as owner of a partnership/sole proprietorship or as part of a family enterprise
• Company roles where the company paid no GST or its turnover was below GST limits

Actual First-Merit Offers: PGPM 2026-28

Trichy published these figures for its first merit offers on 7 May 2026. They concern CAT 2025 applicants and are not predicted CAT 2026 cutoffs.

Non-DAP offers

Offers are not the number of students who joined. The first list recorded 1,866 non-DAP and 48 DAP offers; some recipients could decline or accept another institute.

The minimum CAT percentile and minimum composite score in a category are separate table statistics. They need not belong to the same candidate. The composite score also includes the interview and profile, so a higher percentile does not automatically place a candidate ahead in final merit.

For example, the General non-DAP PI floor was 95.25 and the first-offer table also had a lowest CAT percentile of 95.25. That does not mean every applicant at 95.25 received an offer. The interview and other selection components still applied.

Waitlist Movement and Score Interpretation

The official record lists eleven waitlist releases between 14 May and 23 June 2026. The highest waitlist serial shown for each category was:

These are waitlist serial numbers, not CAT ranks, seats or the number of students eventually admitted. A later round could have no movement in one category while another category received offers.

The last General non-DAP movement appeared in the tenth release, reaching WL 405 on 22 June. The eleventh release on 23 June extended NC-OBC to WL 206 and SC to WL 197, with no new General, EWS or ST movement shown for that release.

The General non-DAP lowest composite score moved from 80.51 in the first merit offers to 74.22 in the tenth waitlist release. The CAT percentile was not required to fall in the same way: that later release had a lowest percentile of 95.79. Each list represented different profiles.

A waitlist position for a future intake cannot be assigned a guaranteed conversion chance from these serials. The CAT admission process involves institute-specific offers and withdrawals, not a single nationwide seat-allotment list.

JAP Registration, PI Venues and Documents

JAP 2026 was shared by Kashipur, Raipur, Ranchi and Tiruchirappalli, with Raipur coordinating. An email inviting registration was a pre-interview step, not a PI call. Only registered candidates could enter the later shortlist.

The PI venues listed by Trichy were Bangalore, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi, IIM Kashipur, IIM Raipur, IIM Ranchi and IIM Tiruchirappalli. The coordinating institute communicated the allocated date and venue.

The JAP form required an APAAR ID. PwD candidates needed a valid UDID card and benchmark-disability eligibility. Relevant original academic, category, work and professional records had to be produced at PI and could be checked again at admission.

Final-year bachelor's or CA/CMA(ICWA)/CS candidates used marks from the latest completed academic period. For provisional entry to 2026-28, a Principal/Registrar certificate confirming completion of all requirements had to be issued and submitted by 30 June 2026. Final qualification records were due when issued and by 30 September 2026 at the latest.

Failure to produce required originals or satisfy the final eligibility conditions could cancel candidature or admission. The IIM selection guide covers how a common PI can still lead to different institute-specific offers.

Programme Fees and Refund Rules

The PGPM and PGPM-HR fee for the 2026-28 batch was INR 19.50 lakh before caution deposit and mess advances. The published instalments were:

The INR 1 lakh acceptance payment formed part of Term 1; it should not be added again to the INR 3.79 lakh first-term payable. Across six terms, the stated INR 24,000 mess advance per term totals INR 1.44 lakh, and the caution deposit adds INR 30,000. This explains the INR 21.24 lakh scheduled outlay versus the INR 19.50 lakh programme fee.

The caution deposit was refundable on leaving, after applicable adjustments. Mess advances could be revised or adjusted to actual rates, so the calculated six-term outlay is based on the published instalments, not a guaranteed final mess bill.

Registration date was the refund boundary. Withdrawal before registration through the admissions portal allowed a refund after an INR 1,000 processing deduction. On or after registration, term fees were non-refundable; caution deposit and mess fee remained refundable after proportionate mess deductions.

The waitlist commitment amount was separate. It was fully refundable if a candidate withdrew from the active waitlist or did not receive or accept the final offer. Paying to remain on a waitlist did not mean a seat had been allotted.
